The Thinkers’ Square was opened in Kharkiv.
On October 23, 2021, the opening ceremony for the Thinkers’ Square, symbolizing the friendly ties among Ukraine, Kazakhstan, and Azerbaijan, took place on Poltavskyi Shlyakh in the city of Kharkiv.
The square features a sculptural composition of three figures: the Ukrainian philosopher, theologian, poet, and educator Hryhorii Skovoroda; the Azerbaijani educator, philosopher, and public figure Mirza Fatali Akhundov; and the Kazakh poet, thinker, and cultural reformer Abai Kunanbayev.
Those attending the inauguration included Secretary of the Kharkiv City Council Ihor Terekhov, Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Ukraine Darkhan Kaletayev, Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Ukraine Elmira Akhundova, and Ambassador of Vietnam to Ukraine Nguyen Anh Tuan.
As Ihor Terekhov noted, this square symbolizes the unity of the cultures of Ukraine, Azerbaijan, and Kazakhstan.
“I am grateful to our sculptor Seyfaddin Gurbanov, who brought this idea to life. I would also like to thank the Honorary Consul of Kazakhstan in Kharkiv Emin Nadzhafli, who made great efforts for this event to take place. And I want to thank the people of Kharkiv and the city’s guests who joined us for this celebration. I am convinced that today will lay a solid foundation for the development of cultural and international ties among Kharkiv, Kazakhstan, and Azerbaijan,” Ihor Terekhov emphasized.
The square combines modern technology with a classic spirit. Visitors can “bring the thinkers to life” using augmented reality, while the square itself is equipped with free Wi-Fi and charging stations for mobile phones.
The event was organized by the Honorary Consul of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the city of Kharkiv, President of the Kharkiv Diplomatic Club Emin Nadzhafli, with the support of the Kharkiv City Council, the Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Ukraine, and the Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Ukraine.
