Ukraine Purchases Natural Gas from Azerbaijan for the First Time

In November, Ukraine imported 740 tons of propane-butane mixture (LPG) from Azerbaijan, according to consulting company UPECO.

ā€œThe LPG importers were Nadija and SOCAR Energy Ukraine, which contracted 530 and 210 tons of LPG, respectively. The producer of the LPG is the Heydar Aliyev Baku Oil Refinery. According to the quality certificate, the resource complies with LPG standards, with the butane content in the gas at 64.6% and propane at 33.4%,ā€ the companyā€™s statement reads.

The LPG was imported to Ukraine by rail from the City Gas terminal, located in the free economic zone of the Romanian port of Galați. The propane-butane was delivered to the terminal in Romania by tanker from the Black Sea port of Batumi.

According to the company, the supply of LPG from Azerbaijan to Ukraine is sporadic, as the terminal in Galați receives liquefied gas from various directions, including Russia, Kazakhstan, and countries of the Black and Mediterranean Sea regions.
