The morning of December 20th once again turned tragic for Kyiv due to a cynical act of aggression by Russia. Russian forces launched missile strikes on Ukraineās capital, using Iskander-M ballistic missiles. Despite the efforts of Ukrainian air defense systems, which intercepted all the missiles, debris caused significant damage and resulted in casualties.
One civilian was killed, at least ten people were injured, and six were hospitalized as a result of the attack. In the Holosiivskyi district, debris damaged a heating pipeline, leaving over 630 residential buildings, hospitals, schools, and kindergartens without heat. Cars caught fire, fires broke out in other districts of Kyiv, and the Mykolaiv Church ā one of the cityās architectural landmarks ā sustained damage.
This missile strike once again demonstrates the barbaric and inhumane nature of Russian aggression. Bombing a peaceful city, targeting critical infrastructure, leaving people without heat in the middle of winter, and depriving them of basic necessities is a war crime that has no justification.
Each act of aggression, every missile, and every human loss is further evidence of Russia's chaos and death-bringing actions. Russia must be held accountable for all its against Ukraine and the world.
