Assistance to Ukraine's energy sector and deepening cooperation in the oil and gas industry were the main topics of the meeting between Ukraine's Energy Minister Herman Halushchenko and Azerbaijan's Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador to Ukraine Seymur Mardeliev.

"We greatly value our cooperation with Azerbaijan in the energy sector, and we very much hope that this collaboration will continue to strengthen," said the head of the Ministry of Energy.

Herman Halushchenko thanked Azerbaijan for the support provided to Ukraine's energy sector, which, among other things, helped maintain Ukraine's energy system last winter.

Since the beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion, Ukraine has received 10 shipments of humanitarian aid from Azerbaijan for the energy sector, which include 50 reserve power plants and 45 power transformers.

By the end of 2023, the next large batch of new equipment for restoring distribution networks is also expected to arrive.

The parties also paid special attention to cooperation in the oil and gas industry, particularly on issues of resource storage and transit. Herman Halushchenko noted that intensifying Ukraine and Azerbaijan's cooperation in this area will not only allow individual states to eliminate dependency on Russian energy sources but also enhance the energy security of the entire region.
