President of Ukraine Held a Meeting with the President of Azerbaijan in Brussels
During a working visit to Brussels, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev.
The President of Ukraine expressed gratitude for supporting Ukraineās sovereignty and territorial integrity and appealed for Azerbaijanās possible involvement in the process of releasing illegally detained persons.
āThe release of Ukrainian citizens, especially Crimean Tatars who are illegally held in Russia, is one of my key priorities. I would be grateful for any possible assistance in advancing this issue,ā Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.
The President of Ukraine noted the intensification of bilateral cooperation between the two countries due to the agreements reached during his visit to Azerbaijan in December 2019.
He recalled that February 2022 marks the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Ukraine, Azerbaijan, and Turkey. With that in mind, the President proposed holding a summit in Kyiv in February with the participation of the leaders of the three states.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy also drew attention to the transport and logistics potential of cooperation between the countries, particularly the need to expedite the transit of goods along the EuropeāCaucasusāAsia route via rail and maritime transport.
The President of Ukraine recalled the positive experience of cooperation with Azerbaijani companies in the construction of highways and transportation infrastructure within the framework of Ukraineās National āGreat Constructionā Program.
